Sonalysts, Inc. is seeking an experienced professional with current expertise in electronics engineering to troubleshoot complex test equipment and participate in design and development of electronic control and measurement systems. We are looking for someone who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment and is comfortable splitting time between several functional areas associated with control and feedback systems for power, electronics, and fluid controls.
What You Will Be Doing:
In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and subject matter experts to conduct research, design, test and evaluation of electronics / electromagnetic systems with a focus on Automated Test Equipment (ATE) controls and Signal Processing components. This includes all phases of system requirements analysis, design, development, integration, validation and verification of system capabilities and components. General responsibilities of the team include:
- Participate in innovative research and Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) of modern system, software, hardware, and information assurance requirements
- Rapidly prototype and test system designs
- Conduct analysis of electronic equipment performance and interfaces to the unit under test including timing and assessment of signal characteristics
- Perform obsolescence mitigation and re-design
- Design system components, and create engineering drawing packages and Interface Control Documents (ICD’s)

Note that the first 6-8 months of this position will be performed on-site in Middletown, RI. Once that period is over, this position may perform in either our Newport, RI office or our Waterford, CT office dependent on follow-on tasking.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering field
- 7 years relevant experience in design, development, and/or testing of electro-mechanical systems
- Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance*
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering
- Familiarity with NI LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI
- Expertise with ATE design and development
- Expertise in testing US Navy torpedo systems, especially the MK 48 Heavyweight Torpedo
- Expertise with antenna, Radio Frequency (RF), and/or Electronic Warfare (EW) system design and development
- Expertise with Electro-Optics, Infrared (IR), and/or mmWave radar design and development
- Experience in maintaining and designing a 5S work environment
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment and/or Department of Defense (DoD) engineering processes
- Experience with Altium Designer (or equivalent) including Schematics, Electronics, and/or Printed Circuit Board design packages
- Experience collaborating with Government agencies on development projects
- Experience interpreting and/or developing technical drawing and work packages.
- Ability to use and interpret electronic test equipment
- Possessing an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance*
