Sonalysts, Inc. is seeking a data science engineer with critical thinking and effective communication skills to perform data analysis, database engineering and database administration functions on-site at the Undersea Warfighting Development Center (UWDC) in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the development of innovative analysis and research projects that will expand the capabilities of the submarine force and the U.S. Navy at large.

What you will be doing:

• Conduct analysis of submarine operations to support tactical and operational challenges
• Data analysis, relational database integration and development (SQL Server).
• Perform and control day-to-day activities database administration/management/development on a mid-size database for Navy customers.
• Resolve moderately complex problems by investigating and devising solutions for database operations.
• Develop and maintain queries and tools to support data ingest, smoothing, and analysis across multiple submarine data format structures

Required Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. citizen, possessing an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance and eligible for a TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance.*
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/related technical degree or 4 years of relevant database administration experience.
• Experience with at least one modern relational databasing system such as MS Access, MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle.

The following skills/qualifications are a plus:

• Experience in and/or knowledge of:
  • MS SQL Server
  • Working in multiple Operating Systems (e.g. Windows, Linux)
  • Visual Basic, Python, and/or Powershell scripting
  • 5+ years of database administration.
  • Microsoft Office product integration
  • Operations Research
  • Techniques and processes in Data Science
• Certifications:
  • MS SQL Server Database Administrator Certification or similar certification
  • CompTIA Security+
• Possessing an active U.S. Department of Defense TOP SECRET security clearance*
